Municipal Beaches

From June 1st until the end of August, Warta river in Poznań becomes a host to 4 municipal beaches - places designed to help Poznanians, and their guests, enjoy the long summer days.

All beaches are connected by the Water Tram, with regular cruises from Friday evening until Sunday. You can find the timetable & more information here: rzekawartapoznania.pl.
Free equipement, such as hammocks, sun loungers, beach bags, etc. is available at all spots, and Chwaliszewo and Rataje beaches also neighbour with multipurpose sandy courts for beach ball, volleyball, beach basketball, badminton and pretty much every other sand-friendly sport.
The time at the beach is well spent listening to local DJs or live music, enjoying a bite from the foodtrucks, or couple of refreshing drinks.

Open for several years now, Chwaliszewo Municipal Beach is neighbouring legendary Poznań riverside institution, KontenerART. Divided into three zones, it’s one of the busiest spots in town. Recreational zone, available to all, houses multi-purpose sandy courts (for beach ball, badminton, ringo, and other sand-friendly sports which is a sort of extension for the other multi-purpose sandy court located at the bottom terrace of Warta, small swimming pool, jacuzzi, and solar showers. Relaxation zone offers beach equipment (sun loungers, hammocks, baskets, etc.) and is sharing its space with the gastronomy.

The beach is located alongside the Wartostrada (cycling and walking path leading through the city), and car access is possible from Garbary. (Parking at Mostowa Street).
The boat rental is located by the river, accessed by the staircase next to the beach.

Located near the Szelągowski Park, Szeląg Municipal Beach is amongst the first ones in Poznań. Its rich and enticing cultural and entertainment programme, including drumming workshops, children animation or yoga, is what brings so many residents to its sandy threshold. Located on the route of the Water Tram, approximately half an hour by boat from KontenerArt and Chwaliszewo (if you’d like to see it from the riverbank), it’s a perfect spot for a summer’s day.

Rataje Municipal Beach goes beyond your typical cultural and art programme. It offers the residents gardening workshops, under the “Ogrodnicy” (eng. Gardeners) project, as well as knot-tying tutorials, kite-making workshops, as well as ecological fishery classes.
Unusual class offerings and great access by public transport makes Rataje a great alternative for passing time on a summer’s afternoon.
It’s also the biggest of the municipal beaches, with three jacuzzis and a neighbouring restaurant “Brzeg Wschodni” serving fish&chips and artisan ice-cream for the extra holiday spirit kick.

Located at the river terrace of Warta, Wilda Municipal Beach offers a bit of summer entertainment in an unusual location, and packaged together with a variety of interesting events. The newest addition to the collective, it’s located close to where the River Baths of 1920s and 1930s where, Wilda MB brought back aqua entertainment back to this part of the city.

The beach can be accessed by the Water Tram connecting all beaches, all from Droga Dębińska, Bielniki Street or Jordan Street - or by a leisurely walk by the riverside, with Queen Jadwiga Bridge as a starting point.
